Thanksgiving Side Dish Recipe Ideas

Here are just a couple of recipes I plan on using this Thanksgiving, in case you were looking for some ideas:

Whipped Sweet Potato Bake
3 cans (15 oz.) each sweet potatoes, drained
¼ cup butter, melted
1 tsp. ground cinnamon
1 tsp. ground ginger
¼ tsp. ground nutmeg
3 cups miniature marshmallows

Preheat oven to 350◦. Beat sweet potatoes, butter, cinnamon, ginger and nutmeg in medium bowl with electric mixer on medium speed until well blended. Spoon into lightly greased 1 ½-qt. casserole dish; top with marshmallows. Bake 15-20 minutes or until heated through and marshmallows are lightly browned.

Green Bean Casserole
1 can (10 ¾ oz.) condensed cream of mushroom soup
½ cup milk
1 tsp. soy sauce
Dash pepper
4 cups cooked cut green beans
1 can (2.8 oz.) French fried onions

In 1 ½-qt. casserole dish, combine soup, milk soy and pepper. Stir in beans and ½ can onions. Bake at 350◦ for 25 minutes or until hot and bubbly; stir. Top with remaining onions. Bake 5 minutes until onions are golden brown.

Pretzel Salad
½ cup margarine or butter
2 cups crumbled pretzels
8 oz. cream cheese
1 cup sugar
8oz. Cool Whip
Large package of strawberry Jell-O

Melt butter in 13x9-inch pan in a 400◦ oven. Add a single layer of crumbled pretzels in bottom of pan. Bake 10 minutes. Cool.
Beat cream cheese, sugar and Cool Whip together (add a little milk to make it a spreadable consistency). Spread on top of cooled pretzels making sure to seal edges along sides of pan. Make Jell-O using the quick-set method. Pour over the top of pretzels and refrigerate until firm.

Brown Sugar Glazed Carrots
1 bag frozen crinkle cut carrots
Butter
Brown sugar

Place carrots and just enough water to cover in a saucepan. Bring to a boil and simmer 8-10 minutes or until tender. Drain and set aside. In same saucepan, add butter and brown sugar (the amount is up to you, depeding on how much glaze you want) until a thin glaze has formed. Add carrots and stir together until well coated.

I couldn't imagine using soy sauce in green beans...although, I guess it would just be a substitute for salt. I love that Pretzel salad recipe...it is so good.

I LOVE Thanksgiving dinner. I'm looking forward to it. YUMMMMMMM
