Really Lady? Really??

Let me give you a little scenario here:

You're sick. You've been sick for the past 9 days and all you want to do is remember what it feels like to be able to breathe through your nose, or to go 5 minutes without hacking up a lung. It's not so much to ask, right?

Well, not only are you sick, but you're a stay-at-home-mom... to a girl who started her terrible 2's waaaay too early. You haven't cleaned your house in 2 weeks, and dinner consists of peanut butter and jelly or top ramen.

You need to go to the grocery store because you're out of applesauce and bananas and that seems to be the only two things said 2 year old wants to eat. So you get ready to go and try not to look in the mirror and notice how you can't seem to get those dry flakes off your nose because you've been blowing it raw for the past week. You hope no one will notice.

It feels nice to get out of the house, but you're tired after only being in the store for 5 minutes. Your 2 year old is already kicking up a fuss so you give her pretzels and her sippy cup to occupy her for awhile. You go down every aisle and think you must be blind because you can't find applesauce anywhere... until you realize it's on the one aisle that you skipped because you didn't think it would be there.

You pause to read the back cover of a new book that looks interesting when you're 2 year old starts "dropping" pretzels. You bend down to pick them up and she tosses the rest on the floor. A worker from the store walks by and...

laughs.

Of all the reactions in the world, this was the last one you expected. Where was the sympathy look? The "pretend I didn't notice" head shift? The HELP??

Nowhere to be found.

For my kids the terrible 2's actually started around 18 months...and unfortunately ended maybe a month or two before their 2nd B-day. It's a bummer. The funny thing is that magically they are better. You don't even realize it happened until it just hits...and you realize the terrible 2's must be over....so, good luck!

sorry the lady didn't help you. That sucks!

I'm sorry! I hope you start feeling better soon. As for your nose, have your tried the tissue with lotion in it? It feels kind of weird at first but it does wonders. (for me at least)

bahahaha, they probably have been in the same boat. Plus, there's nothing wrong with some PB&Js or Top Ramen. Use chapstick for your nose, it works wonders! Hope you feel better!

Well, I'll start by saying I have FOUR kids and they all started their terrible two's around 18 months. Also, I would've laughed too, but it would've been a sympathy laugh (as if to say "aren't kids funny?" or "she must be two"), and I would've asked if you wanted help.

Next time call your VT to get you some things at the store! :) LY, Shelly
