My rating: 5 starsSummary: During the summer of 1793, Mattie Cook lives above the family coffee shop with her widowed mother and grandfather. Mattie spends her days avoiding chores and making plans to turn the family business into the finest Philadelphia has ever seen. But then the fever breaks out.
Disease sweeps the streets, destroying everything in its path and turning Mattie's world upside down. At her feverish mother's insistence, Mattie flees the city with her grandfather. But she soon discovers that the sickness is everywhere, and Mattie must learn quickly how to survive in a city turned frantic with disease.
My take: I loved this book! I am not sure what it is about it, but it was such a great story of the courage and determination of a 15 year old girl forced to grow up very fast. I can't imagine having to try to survive in a disease-torn city the way she did. Just an amazing book with an excellent storyline and great characters.

Wow, how did you put the "if you like this you may like these" thing? I have been wanting to put something in my side bar of the book I'm currently reading this week but can't figure it out.
Looks like an interesting book. Scary though!
